HSBC 'Differing Points of Value'

These images are a play on the HSBC adverts, 'Differing Points of Value'.  They represent the way in which society stereotypes adolescents, prejudicing them simply because of their age.  The majority of viewers would assume that in the image with the adolescent male and the woman, it is the young man stealing the bag.  Why?  Is there any concrete evidence on which the viewer can base such assumptions, besides the subject's age?  The same goes for the image with the flowers.  Who is to say the boy is not merely lowering the blossoms so he can fully appreciate their scent, rather than ripping them down in an act of supposedly characteristic vandalism.

Look at Me

Water-Lily

These flower pieces represent the dichotomy that is female adolescence.  One the one hand, their bodies are becoming more and more sexual - indeed, the majority of porn stars are in their late teens.  On the other hand, however, they are still trying to cling onto that childhood innocence and purity; as represented by the flowers painted on their back.  All the flowers  in these pieces - water lilies, calla lilies, frangipanis - represent purity or perfection.
